Speaker Biography: Dr. Valeri Belianine

Valeri Belianine has extensive experience in academic disciplines, research, administration and consulting.

Having graduated from the department of history and philology, Peoples' Friendship University, named after Patrice Lumumba, Dr. Belianine received several qualifications: translator from Russian into English, translator from Swahili into Russian and teacher of Russian language and literature for international students.

He has broad international experience, having worked in Afghanistan, Cuba and Taiwan as professor of Russian language and psycholinguistics. Having become Ph.D. and Dr. Sc. in sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics, he studied the ways language depicts reality and how culture is closely connected with the way people behave.

Dr. Belianine became full professor at several universities. Five Ph.D. students have written their theses under his supervision. He has published more than ten books and textbooks on psycholinguistics, with the total amount of 30,000 copies.

He had 13 grants for projects concerning language and culture, language and gender, language and cognition. He is also an author of a computer program on text analysis and is a Neuro-Linguistics Programming practitioner.

Dr. Belianine was invited to more than 70 conferences in Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Taiwan.
